PHS hosting baseball camp
The Palestine High School baseball program will host two camps next month for aspiring players.
Monday and Tuesday, PHS coach Austin Evans will host a beginner’s camp for boys ages 6 through 9.
The second camp will be held Wednesday and Thursday, and will be an advanced camp for any player from 10 years old to an incoming freshman.
The camps, which costs $25, will run from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. both days. Those who pre-register will receive a camp t-shirt.

PHS softball camp
Also taking place beginning Monday will be the Palestine softball program’s three-day camp.
The camp, hosted by PHS softball coach J.J. Johnson, will stress the fundamentals of the game with players, as they focus on baserunning, hitting and fielding.
Cost of the camp is $15, and camp will run from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily. It is open to any girl that was in third through ninth grade during the 2012-2013 school year.

Iron Ore Classic in Rusk
Birmingham Forest Golf Club in Rusk will host the Iron Ore Classic June 8 and June 9.
This two-man scramble event costs $75 per player to enter, with cash prizes paid out in each flight.
First-place in each flight will win $500, with second receiving $300 and third-place winning $200.

Adrian Peterson football camp
Local legend and reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Adrian Peterson will host his second annual football camp June 15 in Tyler.
The camp will be held at Lindsey Park (12557 Spur 364 West, Tyler, TX) and will begin at 10 a.m. Peterson will be present through all the sessions.
The camp is open to boys and girls from 9 to 17 years of age. Those 14 years old to 17 years old will be considered in the varsity group.
The camps first session will begin at 10 a.m., with the varsity group beginning at noon and a final session kicking off at 2 p.m.
Each session will consist of workouts a numerous instructional stations, coached by the staff of USA Football. After the groups finish their stations, they will have a chance to hear a personal message from Peterson.
All campers will receive a camp t-shirt, and the cost of the camp is $10.

Westwood volleyball camp
The Westwood volleyball program will host its annual camp July 29 through August 1 at Westwood High School.
The camp is open to players entering fourth through 12th grade, and runs from 8 a.m. until noon daily.
The camp will be run by coach Janae Evans and her staff, as well as varsity lettermen Marialle Boles and Heather Wooden, who help guide the Lady Panthers to the regional quarterfinals in 2012.
Cost of the camp is $40.
