Local fifth grader finishes third in Las Vegas youth bull riding event

PALESTINE —

Most fifth graders’ hobbies include playing video games, watching TV or playing sports.

Jacoby Campbell, a Palestine local, just placed third in the Chris Shivers Invitation for the Junior Mini Bull division in Las Vegas.

The event took place from Dec. 5 through Dec. 8 and was televised on RFDTV. The event was Campbell’s first television event to be a part of.

Earlier this year, he rode at the FanZone during the PBR Iron Man in Arlington.

Campbell’s mother Clarissa Campbell said Jacoby has been riding bulls since he was four years old and has loved every minute of doing it.

He is proud to represent the city of Palestine and is excited to be able to share his passion for bull riding with anyone and everyone that he can, she said.

The Las Vegas event for Campbell was the kick off to a new season of riding with the MBR.

Campbell also is a part of several other associations throughout the state of Texas. He also travels to many open youth events and invitationals throughout the year.

Campbell’s mother said his passion and ability to ride wouldn’t be possible without the support of his sponsors: Rolling Dyess Bucking Bulls, Double Diamond Bucking Bulls, Nicole Porter and the Boston Buckaroos and last, but not least, his mother.
