H.S. Basketball: PHS/WHS both get huge wins on Friday night

PALESTINE —

The Wildcats boys basketball team played a close match throughout the game against Groesbeck, but ultimately came away with the 90-60 win.

In what started out as a close game, the Wildcats turned it on in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Goats 24-7 to pull off the 30-point win.

Throughout the first half, Palestine was played close by the Goats.

A 24-13 lead after the first for the Wildcats was cut closer by the Goats in the second quarter as the Goats put up 20 in the quarter.

The Wildcats were still able to hold on to the lead at halftime, though, at a score of 44-33.

The third quarter was still close as the Wildcats held on to a 22-20 points advantage before the 24-7 rout in the fourth.

Top scorers for the Wildcats were Devonte Mims with 18 points, Tony Butler with 14 points, Dakedrick McMorris with 13 points and Johnathan York with 13 points.

 

Westwood 63, Garrison 48

 

The Westwood Lady Panthers were in action also on Friday night as they took on Garrison and won 63-48.

The Lady Panthers’ top scorers for the game were Mi’Kayla Benson with 21 points, 12 rebounds, Alexis Hatten with 12 points, 11 rebounds and Jemelia Thomas with 12 points.
