H.S. Football: Palestine is set to take on the undefeated Eagles of Fairfield on Friday

PALESTINE — The Palestine Wildcats will have their hands full when the Fairfield Eagles come to town Friday night.

Palestine fans can expect a good game as the Wildcats aim to hand the Eagles their first loss of the season as Fairfield enters the game undefeated. The Wildcats are undefeated in district.

Palestine coach Lance Angel said Friday’s game will be a big one for the Wildcats, even with them already clinching a playoff spot.

“They (Fairfield) are a very talented team,” Angel said. “They play great defense and have an explosive offense.”

Last season, Fairfield got the best of Palestine in a shootout game, winning 60-59.

Angel said one of the great things about this year's game is that the Wildcats will get to play at home in front of their own crowd.

“Our kids like playing at home and like playing in 'big' games,” Angel said.

Friday night's game against Fairfield also will be senior night for the Wildcats.

Senior night shows the hard work the senior players on the team have put in all year long. One of the biggest things about Friday’s game is that the Wildcats will still have almost all of the team on hand.

Angel is pleased to have his players healthy and injury-free.

“As with any team, the healthier you are right now the better you are as a team,” he said.
