Make that seven-for-seven for the Elkhart girls’ cross country team.
The Lady Elks won their seventh meet this season (they’ve entered only seven), taking home the team title in the small school division at Crockett’s Pre-District meet.
Kayla Johnson and Harley Brim paced the Lady Elks with top-10 finishes, with Johnson finishing eighth in 13 minutes, 41 seconds, followed by Brim in ninth in 13:42.
Paige Huff (14:35) finished 27th and Joli Ballew (14:41) finished 28th for the Lady Elks, while Anna Clark’s 32nd-place finish in 14:46 rounded out the Lady Elks’ scoring-five.
Neches’ Haley Harroff finished 12th in 13:49. She edged Trinity’s Temple Tolly by four-tenths of a second for the spot.
On the varsity boys’ side, Black Zabick led the Elks to a third-place team finish with his personal fifth-place finish. Zabick ran the course in 19:08.
Luis Banuelos finished 13th in 19:49, followe by Dillon Shaver (20:02) in 17th.
Justin Bullard finished 35th in 21:27 and Rowdy Upchurch rounded out Elkhart’s scoring-five with his 40th-place finish in 21:36.
Neches finished fourth as a team at the meet, behind a trio of runners finishing 25th, 26th and 27th.
Simon Traylor (20:24) led the trio in, followed by Juan Hernandez (20:33) and Diego Hernandez (20:36).
Jasper Henderson finished 32nd in 21:10 and Jacob Gochnour (21:31) rounded out the scoring-five for the Tigers in 36th.
Westwood’s Ben Gilbert turned in a top-10 finish for the Panthers in 19:39.
The Westwood junior varsity girls placed three runners in the top-10 to finish second in their race.
Vanessa Mendoza led the way in second, followed by Noemi Castellucio in fifth and Ashlyn Hillister in seventh. Marissa Fields (12th) and Simone Berryhill (13th) rounded out the Lady Panthers top-five.
Paige Fillmore finished third for Elkhart in the race.
Francesco Zhao led a trio of Westwood runners with top-10 finishes in the junior varsity boys race. Zhao finished fourth, while Jestin Axum and Sam Carlisle finished eighth and ninth, respectively.
Elkhart had two top-10 finishers in the race, with Riley Smith finishing seventh and Casey Lane 10th.
