Despite owning a share of the District 35-4A regular season title, the Palestine boys soccer team will enter the postseason as the district’s No. 2 seed.
The Wildcats fell to visiting Nacogdoches, 4-1, Saturday in a game to decide who would earn the No. 1 seed from the district heading into the playoffs.
But, despite the loss, Palestine did come out of the game healthy, which PHS coach John Absalom stressed Friday was just as important.
With the loss, the Wildcats will no take on Brookeshire Royal at 7:30 p.m. today at Bryan’s Merrill Green Stadium, the second game of a playoff double-header that will also feature the Palestine girls’ team.
The Ladycats open the playoffs as the No. 2 seed from 35-4A, and will take on Bryan Rudder at 5:30 p.m. at Merrill Green Stadium (3450 Campus Drive, Bryan, Texas 77802).
The boys game will follow at 7:30 p.m.
In Saturday’s loss, Cass French scored the Wildcats only goal, connecting with a free kick from Timmy Klauser for the score.
