The Slocum Lady Mustangs defeated the Harleton Lady Wildcats 62-37 in area playoffs Friday.
Slocum jumped out to a 15-0 lead before Harleton scored their first goal. The first period ended Slocum 21, Harleton 7.
The second period had Slocum out scoring Harleton 18-12 to finish the half 39-19.
In the third period, Harleton picked up their defense and held Slocum to 10 points but could not close the gap. They were only able to score 6 points. Better defense for Harleton and Slocum’s bench kept the score even in the fourth period, Slocum 13, Harleton 12.
Landry Lane scored a career high 24 points to lead the Lady Mustangs in scoring. Valerie Larkin scored 16, eight in the first half and eight in the second half. Brice Sizemore had 9, Kelsee Webb 5 and Kamryn Vickers 4. Jordan Ives and Katylenn Hogan each had 2 points.
NECHES 49, Big Sandy 37
The Neches Lady Tigers opened up the 2013 playoffs with a win over Big Sandy 49-37 Friday at Angelina College in Lufkin.
