The wins just keep on coming for the first-year Anderson County Roughnecks.
Anderson County made easy work of the visiting ATX Tigers Sunday, rolling to a 54-18 victory at Palestine’s Wildcat Stadium.
With the win, the Roughnecks moved to 6-1 overall. That’s good enough for a 2.5-game lead in the South Division, and is the second-best record in the league.
Dominick Turner led the high-powered Anderson County attack, rushing for 131 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.
Quarterback David Cummings was 6-of-12 passing, throwing for 130 yards and three touchdowns.
Two of those touchdowns were caught by Leon Mickens, who caught three passes for 77 yards and the two scores.
E.J. Spurlock led a opportunistic Roughneck defense in the victory with eight tackles and three sacks.
Total, the Roughnecks had eight sacks and two interceptions in the victory, with Greg Ester returning one for a touchdown.
The Roughnecks have a bye this week before hosting their final home game April 21, when they welcome in Temple for a 3 p.m. kick-off.
