H.S. Soccer: Palestine boys, girls nab numerous all-district honors

— After sharing the district title with Nacogdoches, the Palestine boys’ soccer team snagged three of District 35-4A’s superlative awards on the all-district teams released this week.

Kaleb Garcia, who has signed to continue his career at UT-Tyler, was named the district’s Offensive MVP, while Paul Webb earned Defensive MVP honors.

Along with that duo, senior goalkeeper Jose Cabrera was named the Goalkeeper of the Year in the district.

Pablo Aguilar, Brandon Fierro, Cass French and Alec Meyers were all named to the district’s first team, while Alonso Cruz, Adrian Rodriguez and Wilmer Marquez were all named second team.

Earning honorable mention nods were Tim Klauser, Marcelo Zavala and Wesley Ives.

On the girls’ side, the Ladycats had their own superlative winner in Danielle Harroff, who was named the District 35-4A Newcomer of the Year.

Palestine placed four on the first team, led by Jacksonville College-bound Xochitl Zavala. Joining her were Alex Rocha, Karina Rodas and Nidia Umanzor.

Earning second team honors were Amber Gonzales, Gabby Meyers and Mackenzie Calloway, while Brenda Aguia, Alyssa Claytor and Astrid Sandoval all earned honorable mention nods.
