The Oakwood Panthers won their first playoff game, defeating Leverett's Chapel 64-6 Thursday in Oakwood. This is the fourth year in a row the team has been in the playoffs.
The game ended at the end of the second quarter due to the mercy rule used in six-man football.
Oakwood's Jacquez Anderson started off the action with a 49-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Other Oakwood scores in the first came from Damiyne Durham's 9-yard run and Dominique Johnson's 0-yard run.
Oakwood continued to dominate the scoreboard in the second quarter with six more touchdowns, starting with a 62-yard run by Durham, bringing the score to 31-0.
Anderson made a 30-yard touchdown run, intercepted a Lions' pass to make the third touchdown in the second quarter. Durham then made a 30-yard run to bring the score to 51-0 and followed up with a 71-yard touchdown pass to Thomas Nicholson, bringing the score to 58-0.
Oakwood's last score in the second quarter was a 58-yard fumble recovery, to make the score 64-0.
With two seconds left in the second quarter, Leverett's Chapel's scored on a 3-yard touchdown by Koy Burks.
Oakwood rushed 8 times for 304 total yards.
