H.S. Football: Westwood still in search of second win of the season

PALESTINE — Westwood is in a different boat than some of the other area teams.

With it being the last game of the season, Westwood can finally start to look forward to the coming season and what its young talent has to offer.

But before it does that, Westwood has to contend with Crockett on the road in the final game of the season.

Westwood coach Roger Mays said his team is prepared for Crockett this weekend.

“They are a very similar team to us,” Mays said. “They started out the season well and have struggled through district play. They have some very athletically-skilled players and a lot of youth on their team. It will be a test of who handles the adversity that will strike throughout the game.”

Last season, Westwood won the game against the Bulldogs 28-10, and the Panthers are hoping for a repeat performance as they go into Friday’s matchup.

“We have had a great week of practice and are excited about playing this game with a tremendous amount of pride,” Mays said. “We really want to honor our seniors and send them out with a win.”
