PALESTINE — Over the weekend, Cayuga cross country participated in Regionals.
The varsity boys Wildcats squad finished in fifth place out of 22 teams in attendance in Humble.
Matthew McNeill was the lone Wildcat who placed high enough to advance to state on Saturday in Round Rock.
Out of 171 runners who participated in the meet, McNeill placed eighth overall with a time of 17:50.
Other notable runners for the Wildcats included Tristan Davis who finished the competition in 24th place, Shelton Trahan who finished in 47th place, Justin Gilpin who finished in 52nd place, Rance Rushing who finished in 89th place, Brant Cox who finished two spots behind Rushing in 91st place and Baker Cox who finished in 127th place among the 171 runners.
Also competing in Saturday’s state competition will be Palestine’s Tyler Barnard.
Barnard and McNeill will compete on Saturday representing each school and both are trying to achieve state.
