H.S. Softball: Elkhart's Courtney Lindsey signs with Temple College

PALESTINE —

Moving on to college can be a nerve-racking situation for some people, but for Elkhart’s Courtney Lindsey, the opportunity to play at the next level -- at Temple College-- is exciting.

As a member of the Lady Elks’ softball team, Lindsey has put up solid numbers throughout her career.

With just a few games left in the season and with Senior Night behind her, Lindsey said she’s ready for the challenge after she finishes winning for Elkhart.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to play at the next level,” Lindsey said. “It’s always been one of my dreams to be able to go that far. Just being able to accomplish my dreams, and the fact that I will be playing at the next level is just really exciting.”

Elkhart coach Brandy Martin has been with Lindsey for her entire career at Elkhart, and she said she couldn’t be more proud of Lindsey’s performance and is excited for what she can bring to Temple College.

“I think Courtney can have a huge impact at the next level,” Martin said. “I think she’s a very powerful player and strong leadership-wise. She’s an extremely hard-worker. There’s nothing that I’ve seen that she can’t do. If she can’t do something, she’s going to work hard enough to be able to do it before too long.”

Lindsey has been performing well this season mostly in part to one particular group of people who have helped her along the way.

“I know my coaches have taught me many lessons,” Lindsey said. “I’ve just been practicing every day, and my coaches have helped me to be a better ball player with a better attitude.”

Temple College’s softball coach, Kristen Zaleski, also was in attendance at Lindsey’s signing, and she said that she expects Lindsey to be able to come into the team ready to go and be a team player.
