19-2A All-District Volleyball team named

PALESTINE — The Dogwood Circle's Westwood and Elkhart volleyball teams dominated the 19-2A district selections for All-District this year.

Named Most Valuable Player was Westwood High School senior Mi’Kayla Benson, with Newcomer of the Year awarded to WHS sophomore Diamond Dewberry.

Elkhart High School junior Robin Grant takes home the award for Offensive Player of the Year, with fellow Elkhart senior Catie Bridges earning the honor of Defensive Player of the Year.

The District 19-2A Coach of the Year honors went to WHS volleyball coach Janae Evans.

Other District 19-2A honors were awarded as follows:

• Setter of the Year – Regan Humphreys, Central Heights, freshman.

• First Team All-District — Maggie Mitschke, senior, Onalaska; Ryan Grimsley, senior, Elkhart; Paige Huff, Sophomore, Elkhart; Courtney Cheatham, junior, Elkhart; Neeli Hardison, senior, Westwood; Cierrah Leonard, senior, Groveton; Shelby Corry, freshman, Crockett; and Antraneisha McKnight, junior, Crockett.

• Second Team All-District — Natali Muniz, senior, Westwood; Lacey Wooden, junior, Westwood; Annye Todd, junior, Onalaska; Lexi Wiggins, sophomore, Onalaska; Dani Mitschke, junior, Onalaska; Brooklyn Facklam, sophomore, Elkhart; Megan Davis, junior, Elkhart; Nyesha Pope, senior, Groveton; Juanisha Foster, senior, Crockett; Madison Shelby, senior, Trinity; and Ashley Lucas, sophomore Central Heights.
