Last month, Palestine senior goalkeeper Jose Cabrera was honored with a spot on the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches (TASCO) Class 4A all-state team.
This weekend, he’ll try and prove himself as one of the state’s best on the field.
Cabrera was selected to play in the TASCO all-star game, which kicks off at noon Saturday at Temple ISD’s Wildcat Stadium.
Only 44 seniors earned the honor to play in the game, which comes at the end of three days for the players in the Temple-area.
Players were expected to go on a tour at Fort Hood as well as other places in the area, before attending a banquet tonight at the Mayborn Convention Center.
The girls’ all-star game is at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Wildcat Stadium, followed by the boys’ game and then the closing ceremonies.
Cabrera helped the Palestine boys’ soccer to a co-district championship in 2013 — the first for the school’s soccer program.
Cabrera was named the District 35-4A Goalkeeper of the Year for his play between the posts for the Wildcats.
