From the Sideline: A coming change on the horizon

Palestine Herald-Press

— Sports in the area are about to change forever.

Well, maybe not forever (and nothing crazy will change), but there is a new sports editor in Palestine.

Howdy, folks. My name is Bryan Urbach, and I will be taking over for Justin Rains here at the Palestine Herald-Press. Justin has been great to me, and I have learned a lot from him in this past week of transitioning. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor.

A little bit of background about me is that I am originally from Coppell. For those of you who don’t know, Coppell is a town of around 30,000 people and is surrounded by Grapevine to the west, Lewisville to the north, Carrollton to the east and Irving/Las Colinas to the south.

I received my Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University recently, so, I’m a 22-year-old who is fresh out of college. At OSU, I worked for the school newspaper, The Daily O’Collegian for three years.

I covered all of the sports there, including women’s soccer, basketball and football. I worked as a writer for the first two and a half years, and was sports editor for the final semester of my college career.

I look forward to this opportunity at the Palestine Herald-Press, and I look forward to providing y’all enough information about sports to whet your pallets.

Sports fans of the Dogwood Circle, I am honored and blessed to be a part of this newspaper, and I am prepared to continue the successes that Mr. Rains is leaving behind.
