MALAKOFF — Cayuga Traylon Shead moves to third on the all-time Texas high school rushing list after rushing for 240 yards in a 58-6 win over Cross Roads Friday night.
Shead carried the ball only eight times for 240 yards and four touchdowns and did not come back in the second half as the Wildcats led 50-6 at halftime.
In his career, Shead has rushed for 8,623 yards, moving from sixth to third Friday night, surpassing Robert Straight of Cuero, Cedric Benson of Midland Lee and Rodney Thomas of Groveton. The University of Texas bound running back only needs 233 yards to move into second on the rushing list.
Shead's four touchdowns against Cross Roads also vaulted him from seventh to fifth in the all-time career touchdowns with 114. He needs 21 touchdowns to break the record.
Against Cross Roads, Malcome Kennedy was 5-of-7 passing for 154 yards and two touchdowns — one to Billy Duncan and one to Shak Jenkins.
Chance Caldwell also scored a touchdown as he rushed five times for 67 yards.
Cayuga (3-0, 5-1) hosts Cushing next week for the Wildcats' homecoming.
