Both Anna Clark and Paige Fillmore captured two individual gold medals, and Fillmore added a relay gold as the Elkhart girls’ track team captured seven golds overall en route to a team win Thursday at the Alto track meet.
Clark won both the 1,600 meters and the 3,200 meters, while Fillmore swept the 100- and 300-meter hurdles.
Fillmore added her team gold in the 1,600-meter relay along with Paige Huff, Joli Ballew and Tiffany Rosas.
Rosas also won gold in the 800-meter relay along with Lauren Brown, Kayla Johnson and Hannah Salazar. Chassity Chambless’ gold in the pole vault gave Elkhart its seven.
The relay team of Brown, Chambless, Rosas and Salazar took second in the 400-meter relay.
Both Johnson and Salazar picked up a pair of bronze medals, with Johnson finishing third in the two hurdle events, and Salazar finishing third in both the 200 meters and the long jump.
Ballew also picked up a bronze medal in the 800 meters, while Amber Mills finished fifth. Ryan Grimsley finished third in the triple jump for her bronze, with Brown finishing fifth.
Fillmore finished fourth in the long jump, while Ruth Camp was fourth in the high jump. Madye Hays finished fifth in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters.
PHS BOYS 1ST, GIRLS 2ND
For the 13th-straight regular season meet, the Palestine boys track team walked away with the team title.
The Wildcats won the Crockett meet Thursday, while the girls’ track team finished second.
