The Westwood Panthers couldn’t come away from Brownsboro with a win on Tuesday night as they fell to the Bears, 58-42.
The first half of the game was completely controlled by Brownsboro, as it got out to a 15-6 lead after the first quarter.
Westwood coach Scott Nettles said he thought the team performed OK overall, and would get a chance at redemption at the East Texas Tournament in Brownsboro.
“We just didn’t show up in the first half,” Nettles said. “I think we started to come out good in the second half and then they got to us in the third quarter. We started a comeback in the fourth and got it to within five or six points and then they just got to shooting free throws late in the game and that killed us.”
J.J. Turner led the scoring for the Panthers as he finished with 15 points. Damontrey House and Sam Carlisle finished the game with 8 and 7 points respectively.
The Panthers now sit at 2-8 on the season, but have a chance to get back into the winning ways in this weekend’s East Texas Tournament.
