The Westwood Panthers fell to the Teague Lions in a decisive loss Friday night, by a final score of 59-10.
Teague got the scoring underway midway through the first quarter with a 14-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Austin Skinner to senior running back William Graham. A missed extra point gave the Lions a 6-0 lead as the first quarter came to a close.
Early in the second quarter Teague struck again, this time on a 3-yard run by Daryl Brooks. A failed two point conversion made the score 12-0 in favor of the Lions.
The Panthers answered with their only points of the half after a nice drive that set up a 27-yard Pedro Umanzor field goal to narrow the gap to 12-3.
For the rest of the second quarter it was all Teague all the time.
After Westwood's field goal, Teague's Skinner connected with Aaron Mitchell on a 45-yard touchdown strike to make the score 19-3.
On their next possession, Skinner padded Teague's lead with an 8-yard pass to Brooks, making the score 25-3.
Following a defensive stop, Teague brought the first half to a close with another touchdown pass from Skinner to Mitchell, this time from 23 yards out. A converted two point attempt made the score 33-3 at halftime.
The third quarter brought more of the same as the Lions' John Love joined the scoring with a 17-yard run, that gave Teague a 40-3 lead.
On their next possession, Skinner connected with Evan Goodwin from 30 yards out, extending their lead to 46-3.
In the fourth quarter, Teague brought an end to their scoring with a 17-yard pass from Skinner to Mitchell for the third time in the game, making the score 53-3.
On the ensuing drive, Westwood scored their lone touchdown of the night with a 33-yard run from Keke Hicks.
That would conclude the scoring for the night as the Teague Lions came away with an impressive 53-10 victory over the Westwood Panthers.
