The All-District teams have been released for District 19-1A for Neches and Cayuga for baseball.
Both of these teams had strong seasons as the Tigers came up short for the playoffs, but had a huge turnaround season, and the Wildcats made it to the playoffs before being ousted by Harleton.
In the district, the MVP was Brett Anderson from Kerens. For Offensive Player of the Year, Cayuga’s Jayson Johnson and Cross Roads’ Tyler Johnson were both named. For Defensive Player of the Year, Nick Cobb from Cross Roads was named. Newcomer of the Year was Neches’ Chase Main and Martins Mill’s Payton Garner. And Coach of the Year goes to Cross Roads’ Chris Curran.
The local players named to the First Team All-District include Neches’ Andrew Flowers for pitcher, Neches’ Ryan Gray and Cayuga’s Payton Wallace for infield, Neches’ Austin Jones for outfield, Cayuga’s Kegan Holliman for catcher and Neches’ Ethan Blackman for designated hitter.
The local players named to the Second Team All-District include Cayuga’s Colton Daniel for pitcher, Cayuga’s Colt Laughrey and Neches’ Scout Parrack for infield, Neches’ Paul McMillan and Cayuga’s Brett Whitten for outfield, Neches’ Alex Aguilera for catcher and Neches’ Bradley Moore for utility player.
Honorable mentions for the All-District teams include Cayuga’s John Vickery and Neches’ Dylan Smith and Harley Oakley.
The Palestine Ladycats also had a few athletes named to the All-District team for softball.
Maribel Estrada was named to the First Team All-District team in the infield. Honorable mentions for the Ladycats include Taylor Brown, Chelsey Holloway and Destiny Holloway.
