— The Anderson County Roughnecks seem to have developed a flair for the dramatic.

A week after topping Temple, 37-34, on a field goal in the closing seconds, the Roughnecks improved to 4-1 behind stellar play in the final minute.

With 40 seconds remaining in the game, Anderson County’s Leon Mickens returned a punt for a touchdown to push the Roughnecks past Curry County, 32-26.

Cameron Shead had a big day for Anderson County on the ground, rushing for 155 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.

Quarterback David Cummings was 9-of-17 passing for 79 yards and a touchdown pass to Dominick Turner, who caught five balls for 71 yards and the score.

Greg Anderson led the Roughnecks’ defense, picking off two Curry County passes and recording four tackles.

Anderson County (4-1) hosts the Texas Knights at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Roughnecks knocked off the Knights, 20-12, in the season opener in Dallas.
