H.S. Basketball: Cayuga Ladycats move on to 3-1 for the season after beating Buffalo 58-35

PALESTINE —

Madison Spears led the Ladycats in a 58-35 victory against Buffalo on Tuesday night in Cayuga. Spears’ 33 points led the Ladycats, but she didn’t do it on her own. Ally Jenkins finished the night with nine points also and Cayuga’s defense held strong throughout the night especially in the third quarter.

The Ladycats' defense held Buffalo to zero points in the third quarter. Buffalo’s shutout quarter helped give the Ladycats a 12-point advantage in the third to break open the lead which had been at 32-24 at halftime. Cayuga was able to close out the game in the fourth quarter as it outscored Buffalo by a three-point margin (14-11) to take home the victory.

Other scorers for Cayuga included Presley Luce’s four points, Britney Longmiles’ four points, Paige Boxie’s two points, Shay Jenkins’ four points and Jana Wathall’s two points. The Ladycats are now 3-1 on the season in their first four games and will be headed to the Frankston tournament on Thursday to take on LaPoynor at 11:30 a.m.
