CAYUGA — On Friday night, the last undefeated team of the Dogwood Circle lost its first game of the year.

TaMarcus Sheppard and Coby Bland for Italy couldn’t be stopped by the Wildcats. The two combined for four touchdowns on the night to lead Italy over Cayuga 42-14.

At halftime, Cayuga was only down 14-7 and was still in the game. Even after the third quarter, the Wildcats were down 21-7 and still had a chance to make a comeback in the fourth quarter. But, Italy turned on the scoring and the Wildcats allowed three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to ultimately lose the game.

Despite losing, John Vickery had a decent game for the Wildcats. The Cayuga quarterback ran in the first touchdown for the Wildcats, and he also threw the second touchdown 75 yards down the field for the last score for Cayuga for the night.

Vickery finished the game with 2-8 passing for 93 yards and one touchdown. He also had seven rushes for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Cayuga running back Keshawn Jackson, who has been putting up stellar numbers this year so far, was held on Friday night to just 71 yards on 19 carries. Jackson didn’t score a touchdown for the first time in a few weeks.

Payton Wallace for the Wildcats had a solid game on defense. He had five total tackles and an interception for 14 yards in the game.

This week, the Wildcats look to rebound from their first loss and get back on track against Cross Roads.
