H.S. Volleyball State Tournament: Cayuga draws Carmine in 1st round

The University Interscholastic League announced the matchups for the 2012 state volleyball tournament Sunday, and Cayuga will take on Round-Top Carmine in the second Class 1A semifinal.

That match will be at 11 a.m., and will follow the first 1A semifinal between Jewett Leon and Wink.

Carmine defeated Burton, 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-15) in the Region IV final Saturday, while Cayuga overcame a 2-0 deficit to top Blum, 3-2.

Carmine won the 2010 state title, while Cayuga will be making it’s third-straight state tournament appearance.

The state tournament is being held at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland (4999 Naaman Forest Blvd., Garland, Texas 75040).

Student tickets for the tournament are $5, while adult tickets are $10. A two-day pass can be purchased for $18, allowing spectators to watch every match both Friday and Saturday. A three-day pass is $25.
