Former Palestine football player Samuel Wren, who starred for the Wildcats in 2008 and 2009, will sign to play the next two years at Oklahoma State University later this month.
Wren has played the last two seasons at Arizona Western, a junior college in Yuma, Ariz., and while there amassed an impressive resume.
After a redshirt season in 2010, Wren started six games in 2011 and helped the Matadors to the national junior college championship game, where they lost to East Mississippi.
Wren really broke out in 2012, starting every game at defensive end and tallying 63 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks, good enough for second nation-wide.
He was then named the Defensive MVP of the El Torro Bowl after the Matadors defeated Nassau Community College, 42-37, to earn their first bowl win in 40 years.
Wren also visited Texas State before deciding to commit to Oklahoma State, and drew interest from Washington State, Kansas and Arizona, among others.
In his senior season at Palestine (2009), Wren recorded 51 tackles and a team-high four sacks.
