Fruitvale 67, ELKHART 45
The Elkhart boys’ basketball team dropped two-straight games to finish fourth at the Eustace tournament, losing 67-45 to Fruitvale in the third-place game.
Brian Johnson had 17 points to lead Elkhart in the loss, while both Cole Bridges and Jacob Cheatham had 10.
Elkhart fell to Malakoff, 55-49, in their second game at the tournament, getting outscored 25-17 in the second half.
Johnson had 17 in the game as well, while Chance Chapman had 11 and Cheatham had 10.
Elkhart (2-4) hosts Lovelady today, with subvarsity action beginning at 4 p.m.
NECHES 46, Cross Roads 40
The Neches boys’ basketball team almost got a triple-double from Devin Kanetzky, as he and his brother led the Tigers to a 46-40 win over Cross Roads Friday.
Kanetzky had 12 points, 10 steals and nine rebounds in the victory, while his brother Serge Kanetzky had 12 points as well for the Tigers (3-4).
Harley Oakley-Collins added seven points and Austin Willingham added six for the Tigers, who take on the East Texas Christian Academy in Tyler today. Games begin at 5 p.m.
