H.S. Basketball: Westwood and Cayuga battled it out on the hardwood on Friday night
The Westwood Lady Panthers and the Cayuga Ladycats squared off on Friday night in a Dogwood Circle girls basketball showdown.
The game ended in a 51-46 victory for the Lady Panthers, but the game wasn’t close to being decided until the final minutes.

After three years of coaching and being athletic director the Westwood Panthers, Roger Mays has been reassigned.
In his first year at Westwood, Mays came into an interesting situation. The previous coach went 0-6 before being reassigned and Mays was brought in to clean up the mess. The Panthers were desperate for a better year the next season after the 0-10 record that season.

Free throws ultimately decided this close match between two good squads.
The Palestine Ladycats played with promise in the first and last parts of each quarter, but the middle of each quarter is what got to them in the 47-41 loss against the Jacksonville Indians.

The Oakwood Panthers football season isn’t over, and already Damiyne Durham has basketball on his mind.
Early on Monday morning, the all-around multi-sport athlete signed a commitment letter with the intent to attend Baylor University in Waco to play basketball.

H.S. Basketball: Slocum girls lose a tough and close matchup
The Class 1A Slocum Lady Mustang basketball team was defeated by Class 2A Central Heights by a score of 49 to 45.
Central Heights came out running with a high-pressure defense and rolled to a 10-0 lead before Slocum called a timeout to regroup.
H.S. Football: Palestine is out of the playoffs after a tough loss against Jasper
NACOGDOCHES – A 44-34 loss has the Palestine Wildcats out of the playoffs and ending their season.
The Wildcats weren’t able to muster up enough strength to defeat the Jasper Bulldogs as they lost the game at Stephen F. Austin State University at Homer Bryce Stadium Friday.
Elks end football season with 47-14 bidistrict loss to Godley
After a tough-fought 7-3 regular season and a berth in the 2A-Division I playoffs, the Elkhart Elks laid down their gear after falling to the Godley Wildcats (8-3) 47-14.
H.S. Football: Oakwood wins 64-6 against Leverett's Chapel after mercy rule called
The Oakwood Panthers won their first playoff game, defeating Leverett's Chapel 64-6 Thursday in Oakwood. This is the fourth year in a row the team has been in the playoffs.
