H.S. Football: Palestine sets up to face Jasper in the first round of the playoffs
Palestine Wildcat running back Ben Luckett will join his teammate Brian Thlang in the fall as both have committed to the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
In a week when the players are focusing on the playoff game on Friday, Luckett announced his decision late Tuesday night.

ELKHART — The Lady Elks volleyball season came to a dramatic close on Saturday night in Bullard as they lost a tough match against Troup in straight sets, 25-13, 29-27 and 25-21.
In the first set, Troup came out firing with its girls up front getting kill after kill.
Elkhart wasn’t able to stop the barrage, and Troup went on to easily take the first set.
H.S. Volleyball: Westwood survives scare from Sabine in playoffs
The Westwood Lady Panthers volleyball team traveled to Bullard Saturday to take on Sabine in the playoffs; and after wins in first two sets of 25-21 and 25-6, it seemed the game was in the bag.
But in the third set, everything changed.

Elkhart and Cayuga are both coming into playoff week with last-week-of-the -season wins.

H.S. Football: Westwood falls short against Crockett, 29-14 in final game of the season
CROCKETT - The Westwood Panthers final effort for a 2013 season win against Crockett fell short Friday, as the Bulldogs were able to pull away late and finish their season with a 29-14 win.
“I am really proud of the team for the way they finished the season,” head coach Rogers Mays said. “We played a good game on both sides of the ball and did the things that we were coached to do.”
H.S. Football: Elkhart captures third seed in playoffs
ELKHART – The battle for the third and fourth playoff spot from District 11-2A Division I has finally been settled. With the Elks’ home win over the Trinity Tigers on Friday night, they were able to clinch the district’s third seed while Trinity enters in fourth.
Of course, the game was a showcase of the talent that Elkhart is able to utilize in running back Jeffery Wilson, who, on 35 carries, managed 374 yards on the ground. Wilson led the Elks in scoring as well with six of the team’s seven touchdowns.
H.S. Cross Country: Cayuga runner Matthew McNeill heads to state/Other Regional performances
Over the weekend, Cayuga cross country participated in Regionals.
The varsity boys Wildcats squad finished in fifth place out of 22 teams in attendance in Humble.
Matthew McNeill was the lone Wildcat who placed high enough to advance to state on Saturday in Round Rock.
H.S. Football: Frankston is prepared for a great finish against West Rusk on Friday night
Having already clinched a playoff spot, the Frankston Indians are coming into Friday night's game with high hopes.
Coach Matt Nally said his team has been performing well in the different stages of the season so far.
