A former Frankston resident, now living in Teague, was arrested on Friday for failing to register as a sex offender in Freestone County.
Anderson County sheriff's deputies arrested Jason Michael Ward, 40, on an out-of-county warrant for failing to register as a sex offender.
In 2015, while Ward was living in Anderson County, he was arrested on two counts of aggravated sexual assault, a second-degree felony. He was convicted of sexual assault in April of 2017.
The Anderson County District Clerk's office told the Herald-Press on Monday that Ward most likely followed all required procedures in Anderson County; the office had no outstanding warrants for him.
Failure to comply with sex offender registration in Texas is a felony. A conviction, depending on circumstances, can range from a state jail felony to a second-degree felony.
Ward was transported to the Anderson County Jail, where he awaits transport to Freestone County.
