Funeral services for Joye Gold, 75, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Court Drive Church of Christ with Paul Jones and Greg Cummings officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. in the Granger City Cemetery in Granger. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.
Mrs. Gold died Tuesday in Palestine.
She was born Dec. 21, 1933 in Lubbock to Willie Dean and Myrtle Montgomery Davidson. She was a retired teacher and an active substitute teacher. Mrs. Gold was a member of Harvey Women’s Club, Red Hat Club, Republican Women’s Club, active with the Republican Party and worked with the Child Advocacy Program. She was a member of Court Drive Church of Christ.
Mrs. Gold was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jacob Charles Gold; and three brothers, Dub, Harley and Johnny Davidson.
She is survived by two sons, Jim French and wife Judy of Elkhart and Dr. Dean French and wife Cammie of Palestine; three sisters, Maxine Hutchison of Granger, Margaret Brown of New Caney and Nell Steger of Taylor; one brother, James Davidson of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, Chloe, Lexi, Levi, Jeb and Cass French, Brooke Johnson, and Heather Walding.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.
Donation may be made to the Food Bank at the Court Drive Church of Christ.
