Funeral services for Jean Elizabeth Lomax, 84, of Elkhart will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1615 S. Royall St., Palestine with Roy Matuk officiating. Graveside services will follow at Garden of Memories in Elkhart with Roger Spain officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lomax died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Elkhart to James M. and Lottie E. Jones Meredith. She had lived in Anderson County all her life and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mrs. Lomax cherished the relationship she had with the Almighty God Jehovah and found great joy in serving Him and others.
She was preceded in death by Louis H. Luce and Roland E. Lomax.
Mrs. Lomax is survived by her son, Tommy L. Luce of Elkhart; daughter, Sandra Gonzalez and husband Francisco of Houston; sisters, Agnes Peterson of Palestine, and Frances Brown and husband Douglas, and Billie Kury all of Lufkin; three grandchildren, Chris Ramirez, Frank Gonzalez and Sara Ordonez; and two great-grandchildren, Autumn Ramirez and Carlie Ramirez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Gore, Tony Kubecka, David Parker, Ronald Garner, James Peterson, Jack Lott and Mike Twitchell.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
