Child of one God, Jesus Christ

our Lord and Savior.

Wife to one husband, Donald (Don) Ralph Wells.

Mother to three daughters: 

Cathy, Lesa and Barbra Wells.

Grandmother to seven grandchildren: Daniel Bennett, Kyle and Addison Williams,

and Jayson and Jackson Pittman.

Great-grandmother to one, Lorianne Pittman.



Shirley was born in Elkhart, Texas to Hubbard Starkey and Irene Neel. She has three brothers: Jerry, Donald and Billy Starkey. She and Don were married 51 years. They are members of Calvary Baptist Church. She resided in Palestine most of her life and worked many years at Eilenberger’s Bake Shop. Shirley was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December 2005. She was a passionate survivor for more than three years, and she serves as an inspiration to others with a will to overcome. She will be remembered for her sweet spirit and giving soul. Her faith sustained her. Heaven has received her. Shirley was preceded in death by her father.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home with the Rev. Butch Lockard officiating.
