Sue Elaine Mangum

Sue Elaine Mangum passed away Feb. 13, 2009, in her home in Bellaire, Texas, at the age of 88.
Sue was born in Ratcliff, Texas in 1921 to Allie Murray Mangum and Walter L. Mangum, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sibyl Mangum Kennedy.
She is survived by a nephew, James J. Kennedy III, M.D., and his wife Nancy of Phoenix, Ariz.; two great-nieces, Tara E. Kennedy of Phoenix, and Kristin K. Herndon of San Diego; three great-nephews, Nicholas Gager and Brenden Kennedy of Phoenix and Matthew Herndon of San Diego; cousins Drs. Joseph and Susan Darsey of Houston and New Mexico, Ann Tobeck of Houston, and many other family and friends, especially her Tri Kappa Group. She had special thanks to Camile Boyd for her care and love for so many years.
Sue lived in Grapeland and Crockett, Texas, graduating from Crockett High School in 1938. She moved to Houston in the early 1940s and lived in Houston and Bellaire until her death. She worked for numerous oil companies, retiring in 1986 from Phillips Petroleum Co.
Graveside services for family and friends will be held at Grapeland City Cemetery, Grapeland, Texas on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Denham officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel Grapeland.
