Funeral services for Carolyn Dudley Arthur, 53, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Kennen Jackson, pastor. The Rev. R.C. Emanuel will be officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.
She departed this life March 4 at her home.
She was born Nov. 1, 1955 to Roosevelt Gray and Barbara Carolyn Dudley. She was married May 19, 1983 to Curtis Wayne Arthur. Carolyn was an LVN and later an RN for Anderson County Memorial Hospital for more than 22 years. She was a lifetime member of Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church where she was the pianist for many years. She was the recipient of the Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club Public Service Award in 1992.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Curtis Arthur; mother, Barbara Dudley; one daughter, Clydeola “Brandy” Dudley; two sons, Shelly R. Arthur and Curtis M. Arthur, all of Palestine; two brothers, Roosevelt Gray Jr. and Allen R. Gray, both of Dallas; four sisters, Georgia Dudley (Curtis) Booker of Palestine, Corlis Denise Gray-Wilson, Cherrye Lynn Gray and Ester Gray, all of Dallas; a very special first cousin, Charles W. “Sonny” Murray of Palestine; special nephew, Curtis L. Booker Jr. of Palestine; and a vast number of cousins and friends.
