Services for James Carey Sloan, 79, of Holly Lake Ranch will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at Holly Lake Ranch. Arrangements are under the direction of Beaty Funeral Home in Hawkins.
Mr. Sloan died Sunday in Tyler.
He was born Feb. 8, 1930 in Okemah, Okla. to James Madison Sloan and Mary Emily Eastland Sloan. He had lived at Holly Lake Ranch since 2003. He was affiliated with Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Mr. Sloan was a retired vice-president for Insurance Company of North America and CIGNA. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Rotary Club. He served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Verna Sloan of Holly Lake; sons, James Carey Sloan Jr. of Tyler, Stephen Sloan of Key Largo, Fla. and Justin Sloan of Tyler; daughters, Angela Michaels of Pfluggerville, Donna L. Sloan of Casselberry, Fla. and Katie Giacopelli of Corsicana; brothers, Bill Sloan of Dallas and Matt Sloan of El Paso; sisters, Romaine Griffin of Modesto, Calif. and Cathy Willis of Hewitt; and 10 grandchildren.
A second Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palestine.
