Services for Walter E. Johnson Jr., 78, of Corsicana will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Fred Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Earl’s Chapel Cemetery near Jacksonville. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
Mr. Johnson died Wednesday morning at Navarro Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 14, 1930 in the Harmony community in Anderson County to Walter Earl Johnson and Anetta Barnhart Johnson.
Mr. Johnson worked 33 years as a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Johnson of Corsicana; daughters, Peggy Tackett and husband Marty of Irving and Cynthia Firtos of Addison; sons, Donnie Johnson and Russell Johnson and wife Kathy, all of Palestine; a stepdaughter, Marjetta Spriggs and husband Ricky of Huntsville; brother-in-law, Edward Mack of Palestine; grandchildren, Melna Klein, Joshua Johnson, Steven Earl Johnson, Rachel Milligan and Tonya Johnson; two step- grandchildren, Stacy Holman and Leigh Ann Ragan; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bennie Toole, K.W. Bell, Joshua Johnson, Steven Earl Johnson and Dennis Moser.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
