Ruben L. Goatcher

Ruben L. Goatcher, 63, of Center, passed away March 25, 2009 at Pine Grove Nursing Center. He was born Aug. 3, 1945 in Denton Island, east of Tuckerman, Arkansas, to Luther Goatcher and Velvie Reed Brown Goatcher. As a music minister, Ruben was involved in all aspects of Southern Baptist services. During his time as a nursing home administrator, he gave special attention to the residents with personal care. He was a member of the Lion's Club, and will be fondly remembered for his smile.
Mr. Goatcher has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 at the First Baptist Church in Haslam with Bro. Jody Hooper, Bro. Jerry Jones and Bob Argent officiating.
He is survived by: wife, Heverin A. Goatcher of Center; son, Reuben Grant Goatcher of Carthage; sister, Geneva Argent and husband Bob of DeSoto, Mo.; nephews, Nathan Argent and wife Teresa of Salisbury, Mo. and Andrew Kelly Argent of Amarillo; great-nieces and nephews, Christopher, Patrick and his wife Christina, and Alisa Argent; brother, Jerry Eugene Jernigan of Jacksonville; aunt, Dorthy Wells; cousins, Bernice Guffey of Cash, Ark., Ruby Richardson and husband Albert of Jonesboro, Ark.; brother-in-law, Paul William Kipp and wife Karen of St. Louis, Mo.; nephew, Jason Kipp of St. Louis, Mo.; and niece, Erin Kipp of Illinois.
