Robert Lee Burnett Sr.
Services for Robert Lee Burnett Sr., 78, of Oakwood will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 3907 with Chaplain Larry Hume and Chaplain Everette Bowman officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Palms Memorial Park in Dayton, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
Mr. Burnett passed away Thursday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 17, 1931 in Roaring Springs, to Frederick and Hazel Louallen Burnett.
Mr. Burnett served in the Air Force during the Korean War with the 11th Air Borne Rangers. He was a member of the VFW Post 3907 and a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Burnett is survived by his wife, Patricia Burnett of Oakwood; four daughters, Janny Lynn Burnett of Dickinson, Rebecca Sue Fisher of Baytown, Joan Diane Burnett of San Leon, and Lillie Denise Burnett of San Leon; two sons, Robert Lee Burnett Jr., of Friendswood and Monty Scott MeGuess of San Leon; one sister, Bonnie Cothran of Oakwood; one brother, James Frederick Burnett of Oakwood; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be J.R. Burnett, Rocky Burnett, Brandon Sanford, Chris Hudgins, Mike Deangelis and Lacy Burnett. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Burnett Jr. and James Broyles.
Condolences will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
