Ted L. Blackwell

Ted (Teddy Bear) Blackwell, 52, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at his residence after a brief, but brave fight with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his father, F.L. Blackwell. He is survived by his mother, Nellie “Sissy” Blackwell of Palestine; his wife, Mary Blackwell of Elkhart; six daughters, Becky Van Meter, Christy Horn, Crystal Wade, Sherry Idlett, Tammy Walker and Sandy Beumel; 11 grandchildren, John and Devin Van Meter, Justyn and Emily Prater, Dominick and Katelyn Blyth, Sarah Glasner, Baylee and Kayla Walker, Bradley and Mallory Warner; brother, Joe Blackwell of Elkhart and his wife, Debbie, and their children, Melissa and Jason; sister, Judy Pugh of Ferriday, La. and her husband, Jackie, and their children, Chad and Stacy.

He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones. We will all miss our Teddy Bear, but we know that you are now home with your Savior.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Pilgrim Cemetery with the Rev. Doc Bergen officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Beumel, John Van Meter, Steve Cubstead, Chad Pugh, Jesse Davis and David Davis.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
