Charles Raymond Martin Jr.

Memorial services for Charles Raymond Martin Jr., 74, of Grapeland, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel, Palestine. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mr. Charles Raymond Martin, Jr. died Friday at his residence in Grapeland.

He was born Feb. 7, 1934, in Cleveland, Texas to the late Charles Raymond Sr. and Stella Martin. He lived in Grapeland for 21 years, moving from the Texas costal area. He worked in numerous fields after leaving a fulfilling career in the United States Army and Texas Law Enforcement to include electronics and communications. He was a HAM radio operator for over 50 years, and enjoyed communicating with people around the world.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his eldest son, Benjamin Ray Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sue Martin of Grapeland; sons, William Thomas Martin and Joseph Martin and his wife Tina Gale Martin of Palestine; grandsons, David Martin and Thomas Blake Martin; sister, Joyce Turner Smith of The Woodlands; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
