Services for Marvin F. Nix, 81, of Palestine were at 3 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Chapel in Palestine with the Rev. M.T. Blackmon officiating. Burial followed in Old Bethel Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
Mr. Nix died Wednesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 9, 1927 in Anderson County to Fritzhugh Lee and Eula Mae Forester Nix.
Mr. Nix worked for the Palestine Fire Department and was the fire marshall, he also worked for Memorial Hospital in the maintenance department and retired as a rancher. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Nix was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Mary Evans, Mildred Baumgartner and Vera Dansby.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Nix of Palestine; daughters, Barbara Gail Abor and Darla Jo Gray of Palestine and Patricia Armstrong of Tucker; three sons, Robert Nix of Palestine, Rodney Lee Nix of League City and David Warrington of Tucker; a sister, Bernice Gray of Odessa; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Christopher Nix, Robbie Nix, Matthew Nix, Timothy Armstrong, Adam Armstrong and David L. Warrington. Honorary pallbearers were Josh St. Pierre and Andrew Armstrong.
