Graveside services for Oleita Ferrell Smith, 83, of Palestine were held at 10 a.m. today at Palestine City Cemetery with Dr. Daniel Bubach officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.
Mrs. Smith passed away Monday in Palestine.
She was born May 4, 1925 in Belott, Texas and was a graduate of Glover High School in 1942. During the war she worked at the Box Factory in Diboll, Texas. Then came to Palestine and worked for Palestine Telephone Company for approximately 18 years. Then in 1965 her husband Merle Smith was transferred to Dallas, at that time she went to work for SWBT Co. There she worked as a service representative for 21 years, and retired in 1986.
Mrs. Smith is survived by husband, Merle Smith; niece, Lydia King and husband George; nephews, Leeland Strban and wife Connie, Tommy Warren and wife Ruby, and Roy Warren and wife Margaret; and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Ferrell and Mattie Queen Ferrell; sisters, Clara Modene Ferrell, Sybile Ferrell Warren and Marie Ferrell Strban; two brothers-in-law, Frank Warren and Frank Strban; three nephews, Billy Frank Warren, Donald R. Warren and Charles E. Strban; and great niece, Penny Warren.
Honorary pallbearers were Les Dietz, George King, Steven King, Roy Warren, Leland Strban, Carl Warren and Chad Strban.
