Funeral services for John Dow Jr., 82, of Tennessee Colony will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with Dr. Edward Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Tennessee Colony Cemetery.

Mr. Dow died Wednesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 14, 1927, to John and Gertrude Masterson Dow. 

Mr. Dow had lived in Tennessee Colony since the early 1960s and enjoyed boating, flying, and riding his Harley. He was in the real estate business for over 50 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a charter boat captain in Florida for several years and was a man of many occupations.

Mr. Dow is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Dow of Tennessee Colony; daughters, Dorian Myers of Houston and Diane Dow of Stockton, Ala.; son, Dr. John Dow III of Elkhart; and three grandchildren, Scott Myers of Dallas, John Dow IV and Jeb Dow, both of Elkhart.

Pallbearers will be Scott Myers, John Dow IV, Jeb Dow, Jason Helms, Donald Shaver and Randy Shaver.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
