Robert "Floyd" Dale Sr.
The Palestine Herald
March 9, 1946-June 10, 2008
Floyd Dale, 62, of Palestine was healed of cancer when he left this earth for heaven on June 10, 2008.
Floyd was born to Floyd and Kathryn Dale. After serving a short time in the Navy, he married Linda G. Scribner on July 17, 1965. He graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago, Ill. in 1968. He spent most of the early part of his life and raised his family in the Kansas City, Mo. area.
A truck driver for over 30 years, he moved to Texas in 1994 to drive for Wal-Mart and fulfill a lifelong dream of living on a ranch. He was a member of the American Paint Horse Association, Pinto Horse Association of America, MENSA, and a Golden Eagles member of NRA. He took great pleasure in his horses and beagles, in playing poker, skiing and flying planes.
He loved his family and his church family at Broyles Chapel Baptist Church, where he was a member since 1997. He cherished the Lord and found great comfort in reading his Bible throughout his two-year battle with cancer. On a little piece of paper he kept with him, he’d written “Know Jesus, no Fear” and we know he had no fear about trading this life for eternal life with his Savior Jesus. He wanted everyone to know the joy of loving and serving the Lord and having eternal security.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his four children and their spouses, Jenny Dale, Christi and Ed Musgrave, Barb and Steve Allen, and Bobby and Kristina Dale; his 11 grandchildren, Jeremy Dale, Cody, Casey, Summer and Sierra Musgrave, Courtney and Cole Allen, Mack, Kayla, Austin, and Caleb Dale; and his brothers, Bill, Richard, and David Dale.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brother, John Dale.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008, at Broyles Chapel Baptist Church, 130 ACR 425, Palestine. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Broyles Chapel Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Floyd Dale Memorial Fund, c/o Broyles Chapel Baptist Church, 130 ACR 425, Palestine, Texas 75803.
