With all his family at his bedside, Charles went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2008. He was born on August 7, 1944 in Houston, Texas to Retha Lee and A.D. Oldham.
Charles married Novella Hanson on December 31, 1987 and celebrated their 20th anniversary at Baylor Bone Marrow Transplant Center in Dallas, Texas, December 31, 2007.
Charles worked as an oilfield supervisor for Flint Energy Services Inc. and in the oilfield for 40 years. The family would like to extend their heartfelt “Thank You” to the Flint employees for their kindness and support during his illness.
Charles served his country for four years in the U.S. Air Force.
Charles is survived by his wife, Novella; his seven children, Angelia, Amanda, Aaron, April, Cathryn, Carl, Nora and spouses; his two sisters, Peggy and Brenda; his 29 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by two aunts, one uncle, many cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many caring friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Trinity Church where Charles and Novella have been members since 1996. The family visitation will be Friday, June 13, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Herrington Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Charles Aaron Oldham was the toughest “ole” country boy to roll off God’s assembly line in centuries. All of us who loved him will miss his gentle, strong and compassionate love.
