Services for Rufus Richbourg, 86, of Houston will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Brookside Chapel at the 1960 location in Houston with Dr. Johnny Pope officiating and under the direction of the Brookside Funeral Home.
Rufus is survived by his wife of 36 years, Martha Richbourg; sons, Rufus William “Billy” Richbourg Jr. and wife Tillie and Bobby Hunnicutt; daughter, Carolyn Lemons and husband Keith; daughter-in-law, Mary Richbourg; grandchildren, Rodney Richbourg, Debbie Fuller, Kevin Richbourg, Travis Richbourg, Betty Jo Staggs, Lisa McCorkle, Joseph Santos, Lori Maurer, Rebecca Lemons Pool, Rachel Lemons and Ruth Lemons; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a brother, Robert A. Richbourg and wife Rosemary.
Rufus was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Nell Richbourg; parents, Rufus John and Ruth Richbourg; brothers, Rene Richbourg and Paul Richbourg; and a son, Robert T. Richbourg.
Rufus proudly served his country during World War II as a Seabee and returned from service in October 1945. He worked in the construction field for over 50 years, most of which at Selene Sheet Metal. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Local 54. He loved working, fishing and hunting. Rufus loved and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Christchurch Baptist Fellowship in Houston.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Brookside Funeral Home, located at 3410 FM 1960 West in Houston.
