Services for Gladys Moore, 90, of Oakwood will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Alvin Moore Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Jesse Haynes and Rev. Bill Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood City Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
Mrs. Moore died Monday at Dogwood Trails Assisted Living in Palestine.
She was born December 30, 1917 in Houston County to Robert and Myrtle Julian Vickers. Mrs. Moore was a school teacher and retired after 40-plus years of service at Oakwood ISD. She was a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and Texas Extension Education Association.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John Stant Moore in 1990.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Jeraldine Moore of Oakwood; a sister, Robbie Westbrook and husband Glenn of Kennard; brothers, Rev. Glynn Vickers and wife Rona of Paris, and Don Vickers and wife Patty of Arizona; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lee Bing, Joe Bing, Steve Westbrook, Greg Vickers, Mark Smith, Mack Botard and Brent Bing.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
