Monnie Mae Simpson

Monnie Mae Simpson, 78, of Yates Center, Kan., and formerly of Palestine, died June 16, 2008 at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, Kan.

Mrs. Simpson was born on June 18, 1929 in Rose, Kan. to Frank and Alma (Evans) Vice.

She moved to Palestine in 1968 and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. She moved back to Yates Center in 2002 after the death of her husband.

She married John H. Simpson on June 30, 1949 at Yates Center. He passed away April 6, 2000.

Mrs. Simpson is survived by one son, Glen Paul Simpson of Lewisville; one daughter, Patricia Ann Gillespie of Huntington; one sister, Juanita Plumb of Stone Mountain, Ga.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 28 at the Yates Center Cemetery. Internment will be at the Yates Center Cemetery.
