Barbara Carolyn Dudley





Funeral services for Barbara Carolyn Dudley, 70, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church, 708 South St., the Rev. Kennen Jackson, pastor. The Rev. R.C. Emanuel will be officiating. Burial will be at Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dudley passed away June 21 at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 30, 1938 to Shelly Dudley and Georgia Bell Gibson Washington.

Mrs. Dudley completed her education at A.M. Story and later received her nutrition certification from Anderson Center. She worked for Park Place Nursing Home for many years, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and served as public relations for various organizations. She was a lifetime member of Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served as President of the Daughters of Grant and head of the Kitchen Ministry for many years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia Bell Gibson Washington; father, Shelly Dudley; daughter, Carolyn Dudley Arthur; brother, Wince Washington; sister, Clydeola Murray; and son, John Dudley.

Mrs. Dudley leaves behind to cherish her memories daughter, Georgia (Curtis) Booker Sr., one granddaughter, Clydeola “Brandy” Dudley; three grandsons, Shelly R. Arthur, Curtis M. Arthur, and Curtis L. Booker Jr.; nieces, Jackie Massey and Lillian Hunter; nephews, Charles W. Murray and William F. Murray; son-in-law, Curtis W. Arthur; aunts, Rosie Evans of Palestine and Elizabeth Dudley of Dallas; sister-in-law, Dollie Washington; and a host of cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and very special friends.

Pallbearers will be David Bell, Rashad Mims, Steven Stephens, Lurenza Hutchinson, Horace Poullard and Daryl Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles W. Murray, Curtis Booker Sr., Willard Cook, Sam Denmore, Walter Gibson, Jerry Joe Gibson, Tanner Williams, grandsons, and Stewards and Trustees of Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church.
